How it works

2 staff/volunteer visits a year
The US-based staff visits Bohol twice a year. Each visit involves: 1) Outreach and search for children in need, 2) A surgery-mission for one or two children, averaging 3 surgeries per year.

On-going help on site
Currently, the clinic pays one Field worker in Bohol to: 1) Send medicine, vitamins, and milk to 2 children currently in need of constant care, 2) Outreach and search for children in need, 3) Outreach to families with multiple children in need of birth control.

The clinic works to supply children on an on-going basis with vitamins, medicine, and milk. Children and their families are also introduced to surgeons and international non-profit medical organizations.

IUD insertions and tubal ligations are conducted by UK-based Marie Stopes International located in Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines; an hour boat ride north of Bohol. Cleft lip and palate repair is conducted by Rotoplast International while colostomy surgeries are conducted by Philippine surgeons in Manila and Cebu.

Why it works

Since March of 2000, we have witnessed first hand not only the resilience of sick children and the empowerment of mothers and fathers, but also the power of information and how it can spread like wild fire.

As we find ways to measure our progress and speed our advancement to inform, empower, and involve families malnourished in food, water, shelter, and in information, they too are finding ways to help themselves.

Please check back often for updates. Participate by sharing your ideas, as well as your “2 cents.” Witness first hand the power of one.
